Finally, some rain

While it’s so early in the growing season that I really don’t have much planted outdoors yet, just some onions, potatoes and garlic that was planted last year, we’ve had virtually drought conditions all winter and early spring. But finally, yesterday, the heavens opened and it’s been pouring ever since. We need at least a…

Then and now

It really is amazing how much a dog can grow in basically 10 weeks: And there really is no better place to sleep than under the bed. Smokey likes to make himself King of Luna’s Castle when she’s at daycare. Chris found Smokey sleeping in her bed, in her crate, the other day.

Natural dyes for Easter eggs

Many years ago I tried dying Easter eggs with dyes made from natural foods. It was a little time consuming but a lot of fun seeing what colours I could get from ordinary food items. I suppose you could also use these dyes for things like cloth, yarn, paper, etc. Probably not your hair though….

Some older Luna video

I’m trying to catch up on some videos that I have saved up. This one is from Valentine’s Day weekend in February, when we took Luna to the cottage for the first time. She was about 10 weeks old here. It’s not overly thrilling video, but she’s super cute, playing in the snow, all little…

Luna’s first trip to Doggie Central

I’m finally getting a chance to edit more of the videos we’ve taken of Luna over the last couple of months. This one is from her first trip to Doggie Central, an indoor dog park out in Mississauga. They have lots of play sessions throughout the week but so far we’ve only been to their…

Happy 4 month birthday, Luna

Well, here we are. We’ve survived a whole 10 weeks without strangling her, abandoning her on someone’s porch or sending her to the pound. We’ve had a bit of a rough go of it but in the last week or so Chris and I agree that things seem to have (mostly) turned a corner. I…

Welcome spring…officially

Today was the first full day of spring, and while we’ve been experiencing beautiful, warm late-spring weather all week, surfing around 19°C most of the week, I can’t help but think Mother Nature has a cruel sense of humor when she gives us working stiffs these cool, near freezing weekends. While I would love to…

My garden is convinced

There have been snowdrops going strong in my garden since last weekend, when we got that gorgeous warm sunny weather. This weekend has been a bit of write off weather-wise, and according to tonight’s forecast next weekend will be too although all week is supposed to be beautiful (what is with that? Seriously Mother Nature,…

Perhaps I spoke too soon

OK, I’m a moron. The reason no one is ever at the off-leash dog park at Woburn Park (Bathurst & Cranbrooke in North York) is because there is a way better dog park only about three more blocks farther north, called Ledbury Park. Now in my own defense, I had Google Street Viewed the area…
